Speaker 0 00:01 Hi Maria. Press my name of the father and the son. The Holy Spirit. Amen. After mass will give a blessing for everybody that wants it with the relic. But we have a relic of Saint Matthias. It's all got the other pastas as well, but Saint Matthias sin there. Saint Matthias was one of the fathers of our Lord. As we just heard in the reading from acts, the apostles one of the 70 it's numbered 72 witness cookery romp you round up 72 to 70 as you're probably familiar in scripture, numbers sometimes can be approximate and the significance of those 70 was important. When our Lord taught, he would teach, you'd sit there, his teachers taught sitting down. That's why bishop teachers when he's sitting down, so you talk about from the chair when we here at Catholic Dra, which means from the chair or a cathedral that's the chair with the bishop seats and teaches from and our Lord would sit and teach in Iran and where the 12 apostles and then the 70 or beyond them. Speaker 0 01:00 And it's very symbolic because the 12 apostles stamp for the 12 tribes of Israel. Of course they're standing for that our Lord. Here's God giving his word to Israel and through them to the nations. Because if we read in book of Genesis, we see their 70 nations descended from original nations, descended from Noah, the 70 different tribes of people. So it signifies all the nations of the world. So Matthias was chosen from one of those 70 that followed him in the beginning and a chosen to be an apostle as we just heard from the acts, the apostle, and we know from holy tradition that after, uh, the assumption of our Lord and Pentecost when he and his selection so forth, then when he was sent out, he went around the black seat in the Caspian Sea, in that area, in places now with what's Georgia. In fact, he was, he was a martyred there. Speaker 0 01:51 But the records talk about in his preaching to the Pagans and the Campbells up there, so were evidently cannibals in that part of the world, but he was martyred and culture. He's, uh, in that part of the world, which is where a, the golden fleece was. But that's part of Georgia right now. The, the, uh, the Republic of Georgia, they're in on, on the black seat. That's just a little bit about Saint Matthias, but the martyrdom that he suffered is something we should all meditate on. And our remind people of this a lot because it's important to think about as our society gets more and more hostile and Christian and barring some kind of a miracle, it's not going to change is our society becomes more and more Christian. We need the grace to be faithful. Come what may. Now, what a martyr is, is someone who is a faithful witness in a course. Speaker 0 02:44 The red of the vestments reminds us, these martyrs are faithful witnesses on to death. So we want to have a relationship with the martyrs so that we're faithful witnesses every day to the truth that Christ he give us every time here at holy mass, at the elevation, the precious blood you should ask for the grace right then to live as a faith from Margaret. God gives the grace of dying as a martyr of bloody martyr to whom he slept. Huh? But you should pray for the grace to live is one to be faithful. Come what may. Thanks for that gray and it is a great, we were given it in baptism. We were strengthened in confirmation, but it's something we have to pray for to be faithful. How many people compromise over and over and over again? They might've been good pilots. Catholics maybe were really fervent when they made the first holy communion wanted to become saints and look how they're living right now. That didn't happen overnight. It happened by little compromises day by day by day. Speaker 1 03:58 Okay? Speaker 0 03:58 For some reason, Catholics will have a hard time. For example, saying grace in public. What? Are we ashamed or are we ashamed to make the sign the Cross in public? Seriously, we want to pray for the grace to be faithful no matter what. Speaker 1 04:18 Wow. Speaker 0 04:19 Ask Saint Matthias for the grace to live as a Martin asked her Lord to elevation and precious blood for the grace to live as a martyr and to be faithful on a deck.
