Speaker 0 00:00:02 I haven't really oppressed the name of the father and the son, the Holy spirit. Amen. Today we're course celebrating the conversion of Saint Paul. And we just heard the story in the acts, the apostles, these going through the mass is to round people up, to bring them back to be tormented and perhaps even killed. We know from earlier next, the POS of the Stony of st. Uh, Steven, uh, saw as a, as a, as a younger man guarded the cloaks while everybody stolen st. Steven to death and st. Stephen prayed for him at the time. In fact, Santa Gustin said there would have been no st. Paul without the prayer of st. Stephen. Speaker 0 00:00:44 So pause a lesson that we should never give up on anybody. We don't know what God has planned. Here's the persecutor of the church. That's one of the greatest saints in heaven. We don't know what God has. And it's also a reminder to all of us that we need to practice love of our enemies net. Isn't like of our enemies, the gospel doesn't command something impossible, some sort of emotional response to people that are enemies that are abusing us and so forth. We have to love them. How can we practice love the enemy? It's actually fairly easy. We have to develop the habit though. Whenever somebody is tormenting us, or even if they have already, and they come across our minds, I would think of them. We say a little prayer like this for him. God, make him happy in this life for the next, where God make her happy in this life an next, what could be more loving than praying for somebodies happiness here and hereafter. Speaker 0 00:01:48 And when we do that, we're practicing love of the enemy. We've detached our will from our emotions. We might be raging at them in terms of how our emotions are responding, but our will is where holiness or sin is that in our will right then is willing the Mo the best possible good, which is their happiness and this life, and specifically in the neck. So get in the habit, pray for the habit. Thanks for the habit of every time. Someone bothers you every time, someone, or is that right away, you respond with a little prayer. God make him happiness life. The next God make her happen in this slide, in the next you'll be growing in holiness. And you never know what effect that would have on that other person. You won't know in this life. We don't know who the st Paul's are until they convert.
